The Grandstand in Lincoln (UK) is a grade 2 listed building. The Grandstand has a rich history related to horse racing (e.g. the Lincoln Handicap). Currently used as a local community centre, the Grandstand is in dire need of renovation.
The Lincoln Grandstand Project intends to generate ideas from people in Lincoln, from businesses (restaurants, building companies, arts, etc), as well as from experts in tourism, wildlife and heritage, to look into ways of renovating the Grandstand. We are looking for ideas that will create jobs for the local economy, while developing the Grandstand in balance with its current use as a community centre, and being in balance with the wildlife and heritage of the West Common.
Our first aim is to invite everybody who has ideas to contribute these to the current website.
Please see our page 'Ideas for the Grandstand's future' on which we give an overview of all of the ideas that have come in so far.
Our second aim is to convert those ideas into a workable plan which takes into account the Grandstand's past, the unique role of the West Common in Lincoln, and the needs and wishes of the people in Lincoln.
We are inviting people to submit ideas about how to give new functions and new life to the Grandstand, so that a unique landmark from Lincoln's past is preserved in a beneficial way for Lincoln's future.
Please contact us with any ideas at: information@lincolngrandstand.com.
